When we were young I met and jammed with Ted on many occasions. He loved to
improvise in counterpoint and harmony, which was something we shared. Always
a gentle and respectful friend, I envied his home life and the appreciation
his family all showed toward his obvious genius. Three weeks ago we shook
hands and laughed a little together and I was amazed at the strength he had
mantained in his exquisitely facile right hand.
Music incarnate, and a heart of pure gold, I will miss him a lot.

what a beautiful and generous spirit he was. certainly one of the greatest
musical minds I've ever been witness to. I think of him every time I pick up
the guitar.
I'd like to attend any gathering that is planned.

Ted was a true genius and the most humble and genuine guy around. Having
been a fan of his since 1971, his input was always valuable & important to
me. He wrote in my original $4.00 copy of "Chord Chemistry" (that I bought
when it came out) "Don, You sound reat....Mayall-Clapton lives...Best
Wishes, Ted"Well Ted, thanks for all the inspirations and kindness! A person
like you is in short supply and you certainly gave more than you got!I hope
there's a Memorial get together so we can all share our stories and feelings
about Ted!!

impressed by Teds' love for music...he could probably have played any
instrument he focused on...that he chose the guitar was a delite to anyone
who loves the sound of a guitar...

Soybean,
Please include me in the celebration of Ted's beautiful but all to short
life. He was the sweetest, most giving human being I ever met. We both grew
up in the same part of Westchester County New York. Lessons would almost
have flashbacks about local guitar legend Link Chamberlind of the Orchids
and Blue Eyed Soul singer from White Plains Billy Vera. His harmonic prowess
was as tall as Everest and his patience was as deep as the ocean. I love you
Ted! Thanks you everything!!

I studied off and on (mostly off) with Ted since I was twenty. I am the
least of his students but that I am ekeing out a living playing solo guitar
is all due to Ted. He was a marvelously complex and brilliant man, as kind
as he was intelligent, as musically gifted as he was disciplined and
diligent. He set the bar high - let's all at least attempt to strain to
those heights! Please include me at the memorial. I'm a minister if you need
help with service details or arrangements.

Hi Dan,
Haven't talked to you since the Gefen SFX days, sorry this has to be the way
we make contact again. I will come, either just me or possibly plus one,
please send me times and location. I never studied with Ted but of course
had "Chord Chemistry" and his solo guitar LP, and solo guitar was always a
passion of mine. I think the guy who posted the 100 guitar salute idea is a
great one, and I'd be totally up for that - my teachers are definitely the
reason for the way I play now and in the future. I let all the MI teachers I
used to teach with know about this, I'm sure there'll be a great turn-out!

We all miss him. He was the personification of the truth that music is a
spiritual path. Even beyond his amazing musical talent, his humility and
generosity touched anyone who came in contact with him. Students, if they
couldn't make a lesson, were asked to send in a substitute. For him, there
is no substitute. Such a unique treasure, its hard to imagine how a Ted
could exist in the world, and now its hard to imagine a world without him.

Dan, I am deeply saddened by the news of Ted's passing. I have been a
student of his since the 70s. He has had a profound influence on my music
and life. Over the past four years Ted has proof read many of my
transcriptions for publication and more recently his songs from Solo Guitar.
My only regret is that I didn't use more of that time to document his own
music. Ted was one of a kind and I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out
to Barbara and Ted's family. Thanks for the beautiful webpage! Please count
on my attendance with a friend.

Although I won't be able to make it down from the Seattle area, my heart
will be there.
The contents of Ted's apartment should be donated to the library of congress
or even better a university. A team of folks would be needed to go through
and compile the life works of Ted Greene. There must be 1000s of pages - all
gems.
