  Lesson Upgrades

Upgrades #4 (3-22-17)  |  Upgrades #3 (2-13-17)  |  Upgrades #2 (1-5-17)
Upgrades #1 (12-12-16)

After an informal inventory of the files posted in the “LESSONS” section of the TedGreene.com site, we determined that there were “some” files that needed attention – either because they needed cleaning up (straightening, removing dirt, fixing yellow spots, improving the size/dpi, or just getting a clearer scanned copy), or they needed “translation/transcription” pages or music notation because they might be too difficult for people to follow/understand. Some pages needed to be relocated, and some with multiple pages needed to be combined.

We’ll be posting these regularly as “Lesson File Upgrades” separately from the monthly Newsletter/New Items. They’ll be flagged with a blue "UPGRADED" star next to the file name. We’ll be making announcements to those subscribed to our Advance Updates list, as well as in the Forums, Ted Greene Facebook page and Twitter feed. You can also bookmark this page to check regularly for new upgrades.

If you have your own collection of Ted Greene Lesson files, you’ll probably want to swap the old files for the new ones. We’ll be letting you know exactly what we do – the name of the previously posted file, as well as the new one. New batches of upgrades will be posted above the previous batch listed by date of upgrade.

UPGRADES: MARCH 22, 2017

Here’s the fourth batch of LFU ("Lesson File Upgrades") for the TedGreene.com Lessons section. This month, we’re focusing on upgrading the lessons in the "Arrangement" section. A couple also have added to them Ted's handwritten lead sheet, and any related files he made for that piece. We hope you’ll find these new write-ups to be easy to read. UPGRADES: JANUARY 5, 2017

Here’s the second batch of Lesson File Upgrades for the Lessons section. This bunch is focused mostly on the “Blues” and the “Single-Note Soloing” sections. For the “Blues” files we added to Ted’s original sheets a notation + grids version for each one, and renamed a few of them for clarity. In the Single-Note Soloing” section we upgraded a few to include new notation, provided better quality scan copies, and renamed them to match the titles that Ted gave them. As usual, you will probably want to swap these new files with the older ones in your collection.

For the Blues section, we replaced the following files:

Previous Listing Names:
Uptown Blues
Walkin’ With Wes #1
Walkin’ With Wes #2
Walkin’ With Wes #3
Walking Bass Jumpback Blues (1989-10-09)
Walking Chord Blues (1986-04-20)

For the Comping section we upgraded these files to include notation + grids:

In the Single-Note Soloing section we made a few changes:

First, we moved this file from the “Jazz” section into the “Single-Note Soloing” section, and combined it with a new notation page:

Previous Listing Name (in the “Jazz” section):
ii7 V7 I Single Line Runs

The new upgraded file, now in the “Single-Note Soloing” section is listed as:
ii7-V7-I (Single Note Lines)

Also in the “Single-Note Soloing” we upgraded these files and renamed them:

Previous Listing Name:
Altered Dominant Color_1
Major Scales_Adding Spice
Melodic Patterns (11 pages)

The new upgraded files, Listing Names:

)

And finally, in the “Single-Note Soloing” section we deleted the following files:

Major Chord Runs_1
Major Chord Runs_2
Major Chord Runs_3
Major Chord Runs_4
Major Chord Runs_5
Major Chord Runs_6
Major Chord Runs_7

All of these pages are published in Ted’s Single-Note Soloing Vol. I book (pages 11-33), and the presentation there is much better than the original hard-to-read sheets. If you don’t have that book you might want to think about getting a copy – there’s a lot of great information there!

That's it for this batch. If you have questions, contact us through the forum, our Facebook page or by email at support@tedgreene.com.
