These pages were added when the memorial service was being planned. We were trying to determine how many people would attend. Some people included their remembrances here.

Ted, I can't believe you are gone home - too soon for me. Thank you for all you gave to me: your wisdom, patience, kindness, and generous spirit. You will always hold a special place in my heart - a true teacher, a true friend. Sing with the Angels.

Love, Maggie G.

P.S. Please, let me know about the memorial. I'm at musicforbeginners@sbcglobal.net

What a loss to the world. I had lessons with him, saw him play at my friends wedding, and have been an admirer of his since "Solo Guitar". My heart weeps. A truly generous and humble man. Please let me know when the memorial is.

The Greatest Guitar Salute The World Has Ever Seen:

When a President dies he is given a 21 gun salute. When a King or when Royalty dies they do something worthy of royalty for them.

As We have just lost a most Royal Individual I am wondering if we, Ted's students can create something special for him, something the world has never seen.

I am thinking that there are possibly 100-200 guitarists that will attend his service or his memorial. We should all bring a guitar and at some point we can all play a very simple song that could be played together, in unison, such as Amazing Grace. We do not need to plug in the amps.

The sheer numbers of us alone will carry the sound. We can create the largest guitar ensemble ever on this planet as a tribute to Ted and when we are finished playing we can each cut a string off our guitars and lay it by his side as a symbol of our everlasting love for our most devoted and wonderful TEACHER.

If any of you players think this is appropriate, please post a response here. If someone who is organizing his services reads this please post your thoughts on this.

Ted will always remain my dearest love. He brought me up and out of my self absorbed, self pitying nightmare and came to my bedside in intensive care to share the light with me in 1969. We had one of those relationships that is eternal, etherial and deep. Playing with Ted was the greatest experience I could have as a guitar player, and I will always think of those days when we would sit around "chicken pickin"

This is really a terrible tragedy. I loved Ted and was a stduent of his since 1985. He changed my life in so many ways it is hard to remember them all. I will always admire and remember him for his positive attitude and inspiration. Life will never be the same without Ted and he will always live in my memory as long as I am alive. Please let me know when the memorial will be held.

With Love and sadness,

Ted was my first teacher who understood that music was a magic we all could do. It was inspiring for a brilliant master like himself to say something like that to a a 16 year-old boy (20 years ago!).

Please notify me of any service/memorial.

Ted Greene was a very humble giant.

His contributions to the world of music has made us all better, not only musicians but as human beings.

We all owe a lot to you Ted.

It was just a year ago that I saw Ted play the Sunday brunch at Spazio. I couldn't believe that I was seeing and hearing the man whose LP I had saved for so many years and whose books had been such an inspiration.

I just posted the review I did of that performance for Just Jazz Guitar magazine at this blog:

Dan,
I'm so terribly sorry and shocked to hear about Ted's sudden passing.
We knew each other for over thirty years. He was an inspiration as a teacher and player. He showed me the perfect chord for a certain note in one of my own compositions.

Please let me know about when there will be a gathering of friends for Ted.

The world is a poorer place for the loss of Ted Greene. I am devestated. It will be a long time before an assembly of great guitarists can match the knowledge and mastery of one Ted Greene sitting alone in his room. Please inform me of any way I can honor the passing of Ted Greene
